Extra insert sets may be too large or too small for your current master by a tiny margin in which case light sanding will easily fix that on tight ones. Loose inserts can be dipped in water prior to inserting into master which creates a suction and holds insert in place. the vast majority of insert sets are too tight and light sanding will net you a super cheap extra set with a little elbow grease. Inserts may vary in thickness as well.
